I was recently interviewed on CNN 650 Radio News by the popular Talk Show Host Maven herself, Raven Blair Davis. The reason for the interview was to talk about my ecommerce shopping cart software solution (for the work at home mom, dad and small business community), Wahmcart.com.
During the interview, Raven mentioned something that’s been lingering in my mind ever since and that is, how people have websites that offer a product or service but no real way of contacting the owner and…or… the support area is so difficult, why waste the time trying to figure it out? That started me to thinking about how real her comment was and if she’s thinking that, just imagine how many other people are thinking the same way! Frightening thought!
I have to admit, I agree with her! There are SO many websites that leave out pertinent information that leaves a consumer scratching his/her head wondering, ‘who is this person?’ or ‘is this a REAL/legitimate business/company?‘
More so now, than ever, some people get online, put up a website and a buy now button just to make money. These people aren’t the least bit interested with proper customer service and/or how many sales they make — it’s more like whatever happens — happens, because in all reality – it’s only about making ‘fast’ money.
I know 99.9% of the people reading this message are either in business or looking to start a business and the goal is to make money, however, money should not ever be the deciding factor of how you choose to do business.
The same thing goes for social networking. Facebook and Twitter accounts come a dime a dozen. If you’re just promoting your products, that doesn’t give a person the opportunity to know YOU!
First impressions are lasting impressions. “People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care!”
Are you buried in a sea of social media or do people really know who YOU are? If it’s the latter, I invite you to join me on February 24, 2010 for a 90 minute teleseminar:
9:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. EST
* Why people do business with people they can trust
* Why people don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.
* Why you should take off the mask — people want to see the REAL you!
* Why Hype Has Zero Leverage in 2010
* What mistakes you make when you don’t invest in your business
I’m sharing proven principles and examples that teach you how to stop losing at the game and start winning and so much more!
Can’t make it? No problem, replay and transcript available 48 hours after the teleseminar.
I’m keeping it real,

P.S. Look forward to hearing YOU on the call

I agree about the customer service aspect. Sometimes you never know how things are going to be but when you run into a issue or problem and you can never find a way to contact someone within the site.
My first impression is – you have this business. You should be proud of it and have an About page and tell your visitors who you are and what this website is for, etc.
Look forward to listening to being a part of your webinar. Can’t wait to hear what you will be sharing with us.

You’re SO right on with your comment Staci! Customer service should be #1 otherwise — the business is doomed. It also helps to have a fabulous VA such as yourself
I look forward to sharing some awesome information on the teleseminar! http://bit.ly/whoareu

This really made me smile. I don’t know if you remember or not, but years ago I asked you what was missing from my website. I asked you to critique it and your advice then was exactly the same: you said…”YOU are missing!” You suggested I add a page about myself and my story. Long story short, I did exactly that and what a difference it’s made. People tell me all the time that my site is so different, so real, and seems so legitimate. THANK YOU for your wonderful advice way back then, and thank you for sharing it with the world now!
Hi Ellen! OMG! You made me smile! I’m so happy that I could give a tip that’s made a profound statement of who you are in business! That message still resonates today and will for-ever! People want to know ‘who they’re doing business with’ before they make an informed decision. Thanks for letting me know, it’s truly made my day! I wish you an abundance of success!
