How To Host a Virtual Event

I looked up the definition of “virtual” in terms of what you and I know as “Internet Land,” i.e., ‘cyberspace.’

Virtual in cyberspace means:

  1. “Created, simulated, or carried on by means of a computer or computer network.”
  2. “Not real.  Something which is virtual has no physical basis itself but mimics a physical object in conceptual terms.  For instance, on the Web you’ll find graphical representations of buildings which you can‘walk through’ using your mouse (or mp3 player, or telephone.)”
  3. “In the context of computing, not concrete or physical. For instance, a completely virtual university does not have actual buildings but instead holds classes over the Internet.”

I mean really, who has time to physically attend three classes (seminars) per day?  Virtually you can and so can your potential targeted audience!

I remember not too long ago mentioning the concept of virtual events to my Mentor.  It’s not that he didn’t understand it, he chose NOT to ‘recession proof’ his business because he wasn’t opened to ‘change.’

Wrong decision!

Virtual events are the [financial] backbones to some of the big businesses today and now more and more small businesses are doing the same.

Leesa BarnesI like how my friend (award winning blogger, podcasting expert and social media marketing maven) Leesa Barnes terms it:

“Recession Proof Your Business Hosting a Virtual Event”

Leesa says:

Hosting a virtual event is one of the best ways to make money. I have earned 5 and 6 figure paydays hosting virtual events. Whether you hold an event over the telephone or using webinar software, you can attract leads and become a sought after leader in your niche hosting a virtual event.

So what does this mean to me?  It confirms EVERYTHING I told my Mentor he should do BUT it also motivates me to get those old notes out and begin my virtual events as well!

How about you?

Here’s how to find out how you can host your own virtual events.  Leesa Barnes is holding a two day ‘virtual’ event sharing the details.

I invite you to virtually join me on Tuesday April 28 & Wednesday April 29, 2009 at 5pm PDT / 8pm EDT / 7pm CST

The teleclass is now over however, Leesa has made the recordings available.
