Well not quite, LOL!
I was over visiting Caroline Middlebook’s “Big Juicy Twitter Guide” and saw where she recommended “Twitter Rockstar” by Nathan Hangen, so I decided to give it a try and let you watch me as I do everything he suggests — you’ll then have your proof if this product is cut out to be what Nathan says it is, because after all, who wouldn’t want to be…
A Twitter Rockstar!
I’ve been on Twitter for sometime now but I just decided to create a NEW Twitter account for my Wahmcart.com service. As you can see from the screenshot below, it’s very new and a great place to start with a new project!
The 21 followers you see there (as of 1/21/10), are what I call “organic followers”. Organic followers in my opinion, are people who find your profile and request to connect with you. I didn’t use any special software to connect with them therefore it’s all real (no special software used) followers.
By the way, if you’re not interested in watching the case study and would like to do your own, you can pick up Twitter Rockstar here, otherwise let’s continue…
Keep in mind that I will NOT be able to share EXACTLY what Nathan suggests in the guide because that would be giving his information away for free, and you and I both know, that’s unethical.
What is Twitter?
Twitter is a free social networking and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author’s profile page and delivered to the author’s subscribers who are known as followers. ref: wikipedia
Followers who ‘connect’ with you on twitter are usually people who want to know what you have to say, what you’re doing — even right down to what you ate for dinner.
Some people only use Twitter to create friendships with like minded individuals. Most people use Twitter for business connections, like to announce a new product or service, or tell someone about their newsletter that’s just been published or even a new blog post – reasons for using twitter are endless and have been found to be profitable for some.
Why I *Heart* Twitter
When I first joined twitter under my own name reginabaker, I didn’t have a clue what I was doing. I just knew there was a lot of noise about this new gimmick and I was NOT going to miss out ~ besides, I’m nosy when it comes to new business tips and resources.
Not knowing what to do first, I just let my friends and a few business associates know my twitter profile in hopes they would connect. Then I went to google and started searching for “twitter tips” and boy, did google ever answer! There were tons of websites to look at. Of course I checked out a few but that got old really quick! One of the tools that stood out for me was Twellow; “is a directory of public Twitter accounts, with hundreds of categories and search features to help you find people who matter to you.”
But Twellow is not what exploded my followers — it was the fact that my followers and I started having casual conversations which in turn caused their followers to see those conversations and the connections got bigger and bigger (no software used here either.) What happened next, was amazing!
My clients began to ask me questions and/or make positive comments about Wahmcart. All of a sudden, I started receiving “DM’s” about Wahmcart. (DM’s are direct messages.)
I can honestly say that my business has picked up greatly in part because of my followers and answering questions about the service. I was even asked to join the faculty of experts at GroupMastery.com as their eCommerce Solutions Advisor (via the blog) as a result of being on Twitter!
Twitter is not a place where you want to start a spamming thread. In other words, you don’t want to just tweet about you and your business, your specials, affiliate links, etc. You can however, talk about what’s important to you, like family, vacations, things going on around you, problems you’re having with your website or blog, etc., I’m sure you get the drift.
So, now that you understand what Twitter is and why I love it, perhaps you’ll see the value of why might want to consider signing up for your own (free) Twitter profile or get going with the one you already have.
Are you really a Twitter Rockstar?
Nope. No where near it! Even with the small fraction of success I’ve experienced by being on Twitter, there’s still so much more to learn.
That’s why I grabbed Twitter Rockstar. I want to know everything there is to know about this wonderful social media platform. The course is broken up into 6 modules, each containing their own set of videos and PDF’s. This way I can visually ’see’ what I need to do step by step. How cool is that?
Included is:
- Module 1: Twitter Rockstar PDF (30 pages) and Video (15 minutes): The first portion of the course will take you step by step through the process of setting up and using your Twitter account. This will take you from knowing absolutely nothing about Twitter to becoming an expert…all in a matter of an hour.
- Module 2: Rockstar Twitter Tools: This portion of the course consists of a 20 page PDF and a 35 minute video that teaches you how to infuse Twitter into your blog so that you can enable your community to do your work for you.
- Module 3: Twitter widgets video that teaches you how to install Twitter widgets in your blog or website.
- Module 4: A Two Video introduction to Twitter analytics, Twitter services, and Twitter payment systems.
- Module 5: Most powerful Twitter marketing tactic ever! 99% of marketers don’t know about this! A Twitter video and PDF that teaches you how to find out exactly what works and what doesn’t with your Twitter campaigns.
Ready to begin? Stay tuned… I’ll be back tomorrow with Part II and feel free to ask questions by commenting below. Let’s have some fun building our Twitter profiles like a Rockstar!
