How to Increase Website Visibility

Congratulations on your online website presence!  Did you know there is so much more you can do with your website right now to help bring in potential new customers, make current customers happy, grow your business, and have it do many of the online tasks automatically for you?

Here are two ways to increase website visibility:

As an online/offline marketing consultant, I know the following terms might sound confusing to you…

SEO – means “search engine optimization.”  Optimizing your website for organic traffic through the search engines, like Google, can mean the difference between a little traffic or a whole lot of traffic.  It’s not enough to just put up a website i.e., “build it and they will come,” that doesn’t work.  You need a website that will draw organic traffic, for example, visitors who are online looking for what you might have to help them. These are the type of (organic) visitors you wouldn’t normally get and they can make a huge difference in the results you’re looking for.

For example:  I did a post on Saturday, 8/6/11.  Subject:  Local Offline Marketing

I went to google’s keyword tool and found the term “local offline marketing” to see how many searches resulted in that keyword phrase: (click on the image to see a larger view)

The results for that keyword phrase are 58 local monthly searches.

I optimized my post to reflect those keywords and now only 3 days later, that post is on page 1 of google: (click on the image to see a larger view)

Cool huh?  SEO is not all that complicated.  While it does take a learning curve, it’s very well worth it!  Next up…

Email Marketing – This is what you do to actively market your products online.  Collecting email addresses from potential prospects and customers, means you can send them periodic emails on new products, incentives, sale promotions to bring them back to your site and inquire or purchase from you or into your physical place of business.

An autoresponder system, is the vehicle you put in place to send those messages.  You don’t have to set up time-consuming individual emails and put in each email address.  The autoresponder system does it all!  To get potential customers to your website and then telling them “what to do next”, is just one of the many keys to creating relationships with your list!  You’ll want to offer them something they would like to have.  It could be something as simple as a free or discounted coupon, a short report on how to do something they need help with and or, a survey to participate in (for a cool prize).

In the event these things don’t sound confusing to you (i.e., you know a little about seo and email marketing), however, let me ask you two small questions:

  1. Are you struggling to get your website noticed?
  2. Do you need help on how to make search engines find your site?

Seo and Email Marketing are just two of the many strategies that should be put into place to increase your website visibility.  It’s a smart way to monitor your website to see what’s working and what’s not.  I know these things to be true because it’s what I do on a daily basis – test and tweak for higher performance.
