How to Become a Twitter Rockstar Part II

If you saw my post yesterday, you’ll understand why I’ve got this Twitter Rockstar project going on.

Sidenote: These are my own opinions and not meant to sway you either way — it’s my real perception and experience of Twitter — along with the results I’ll see from using this course.

Today is actually the 1st day of me opening up the package on starting on Module I.

Before I get into Module I — I’d like to share a few things with you:

  1. “People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.” JMaxwell
  2. “Its About Quality, Not Quantity”
  3. The definition of Hype: “publicize in an exaggerated and often misleading manner.” ref: wordnetweb.princeton.edu

All of the above points are true (IMO) when it comes to not only Twitter, but in social and or face to face networking — period!

I’ll explain why:

  • Now days people are looking for ‘how to’ information – however they aren’t so much interested in talking or doing business with you UNTIL they know if you’re interested in them first and commissions second.
  • While some people will beg to differ with me on this one — it is true. Some of the profiles that you may see on Twitter, that have thousands and thousands of followers – are sometimes created that way with software that people use to boost their profile numbers.  Which simply means, they don’t have a clue who’s following them – let alone whether or not their followers are interested in what they have to say – they’re just happy that they have a large following.  It ‘looks good’ to them (and may never serve any other purpose than to look good.)  I’m a quality girl, hands down! ;-)   (In other words, it means more to me to have 100 followers who WANT to hear what I have to say opposed to having 20k people connect with me just for large numbers sake.)
  • Like any other social networking platform, a lot of the tweets you’ll see on Twitter are just hyped up junk! (there was no better way to say that, LOL!) — there are thousands of profiles there that only send out software generated affiliate urls, get rich quick schemes, etc., etc.   So understand that every profile that you see that has thousands and thousands of followers, does not mean that person is qualified to help you become a social butterfly.

Do your own due diligence, like with anything else and get to know the person before you start bragging on the number of followers they have or hiring them to do the same damage to your own profile.

Now, someone might say, why would they purchase Nathan’s Twitter Rockstar when he only has almost 7k followers, when some people have 20k+? (see screenshot below)

As stated above, I’m not easily impressed with numbers when it comes to social networking as I am QUALITY.  I like his tweets because he lends a personal side to him – it’s not all about what he’s trying to sell me because he’s in business… make sense?  I also will go on to assume (not a fact) — that he’s more interested in connecting with like-minded individuals and those who are looking for what he has to offer.

His profile tells me exactly who he is and what he does WITHOUT him tweeting everyone of his messages telling me so – over and over again.

Now please, don’t mistake my message here — I would love to have 20k+ people following me and vice versa – however, ONLY if it’s a win-win situation – otherwise we’re both wasting time.  Make sense?  Hope so…

After reading Module I (30 pages) — it was pretty much everything I know and mentioned to you above … except two important resources I didn’t know about,  (confirmation! — that’s why I wrote the content BEFORE reading Module I – I wanted to say what I know about Twittering before reading Nathan’s content).

Please keep in mind that this is the beginning of the course.  We are actually getting all of the little stuff out the way (hopefully) to get to the rockstar part of building a super great AND responsive Twitter profile.

BTW, Wahmcart’s twitter profile stats are pretty much the same…
